About the Role:

Do you take pride in helping others identify and locate the tools they need for success? As the Resource Sharing Librarian at St. Olaf College, you’ll play a critical role in supporting research across all disciplines and providing postive customer service to our campus community.

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

  • Manage a busy Resource Sharing office dedicated to locating and borrowing research material for St. Olaf students and faculty, and to lending our unique materials to researchers worldwide.
  • Employ your research skills and knowledge of specialized library collections worldwide to obtain unique materials on behalf of St. Olaf students and faculty.
  • Oversee St. Olaf’s Rapido and Worldshare resource sharing systems, configuring system settings and workflow as needed to provide efficient and accurate service to St. Olaf users and to researchers at other institutions.
  • Hire, train, and lead a small team of employees trained to verify bibliographic citations, identify potential lenders for requested material, and ship/digitize items from St. Olaf’s collection for researchers around the globe.
  • Interact with students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors both in-person and online, providing assistance locating materials, using public equipment, searching online resources, and making research referrals.

 

Who You Are:

 

A successful candidate must have…

 

A Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience working in a library.

 

It will be helpful if you also have…

 

A Master’s degree in Library or Information Science or equivalent combination of advanced degree and professional experience in higher education or a library environment, and direct experience working with resource sharing systems such as Alma/Rapido, OCLC Worldshare, ILLiad, or RapidILL.

  • You possess the confidence and curiosity to explore new applications independently and are comfortable seeking out expertise from a network of colleagues and collaborators.
