About the Role:

In this role, you will execute a broad range of responsibilities in Human Resources using a collaborative and colleague-focused approach. You will advocate for all who work in the College, aiming to ensure a collegial culture that promotes excellence, inclusion, and well-being. You will implement Human Resources’ strategy by handling employee relations and performance management; support recruitment and retention; manage the administration of leaves and workplace accommodations; educate employees about benefits; and lead special projects.

 

We’re looking for someone who accepts new challenges with a positive attitude and has a strong work ethic to join our upbeat and collaborative team.

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

  • Provide counsel on sensitive matters in employment and performance management, including coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline
  • Collaborate with the College’s General Counsel in providing oversight and advice on state and federal employment law and the College’s policies, procedures and practices, and conduct investigations into reported allegations of misconduct, including writing up findings and making recommendations
  • Advise search committees and administrators on sourcing and selecting candidates, including job descriptions, job postings and advertising, recruiting diverse candidates, interviewing techniques, and reference and background checking
  • Partner with specific departments to support recruitment, selection, administration and completion of hiring
  • Implement and maintain best practices in administering leaves, including under the ADA and FMLA, to ensure consistency in application of College policies, communication, compliance and documentation
  • Lead or facilitate training in individual or group setting about the College’s benefits package

 

Who You Are:

 

A successful candidate must have...

 

A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; 3+ years of experience in human resources, employee relations or professional management

 

It will be helpful if you have...

 

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources; 5+ years of human resources generalist and/or employee relations experience

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn federal, state, and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to areas of responsibility

  • Ability and willingness to support, respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community including faculty, staff, students and constituents
  • Ability to problem solve a variety of situations
