Social Media Strategist and Content Creator
Marketing & Communications

About the Role:

 

 

Are you someone who loves telling stories through social media? Do you have a passion for learning what's next in social media, what's possible, and what makes an impact? We are looking for a skilled content creator to lead our social media presence and strategy. You’ll join a team of talented, collaborative professionals who are deeply dedicated to highlighting the St. Olaf experience.

 

What You’ll Do:  

 

 

The ideal candidate will be skilled at creating compelling content, and they will be able to develop and oversee a comprehensive social media strategy for St. Olaf in collaboration with campus partners. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys photography, videography, writing, and short-form storytelling. The ideal candidate is creative, collaborative, organized, and enjoys working with a wide variety of people to tell the stories of the people, places, and programs that make up the fabric of the St. Olaf community. 

 

Who You Are:

 

The qualified candidate will have…

 

A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, advertising, media studies, business, and/or related fields, and 2-3 years of professional experience managing social media platforms or communities for higher education or similar organizations

You might be the perfect match if…

  • You have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on each of those channels.
  • You have experience creating original content for social media channels.
  • You have experience with photography, videography, and creative writing.
  • You have a strong ability to collaborate with others to create impactful content.
  • You have experience working with social media managing tools, and a willingness to learn new content production tools.
  • You have exceptional judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to make quick decisions regarding digital and social channels.
  • You have experience with community management and have the right mindset for managing relationships with constituents (parents, alumni, and students) via social channels.
  • You have a willingness and personality to jump in and be part of the St. Olaf community in order to identify opportunities to capture and share moments of campus life.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This position is on-call for social media monitoring/crisis situations outside of regular working hours. Travel up to 2% of the work schedule which includes local (Twin Cities metro area) and national travel. Overnight trips average 1-2 trips per year.
