Position: Instructional Technology Specialist

 

About the Role:

 

Do you enjoy the intricacies of working with a variety of audio, video and presentation technologies? Are you a creative problem solver who enjoys supporting the work of faculty and students in an undergraduate setting? Do you thrive in a creative and highly collaborative environment?

As a member of the Instructional Technology Team in Library and Information Technology (LITS), the Instructional Technology Specialist will make vital contributions to student success. Their central role will be working with faculty, students and colleagues to develop and support campus-wide audio, video and presentation technologies. They will bring a passion for training others in the use of these tools and keeping current with technology trends in higher education.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Collaborate with LITS colleagues to design, install and support complex audio-visual systems in classrooms and meeting spaces
  • Manage and provide training for our classroom recording/lecture capture system
  • Manage a pool of audio and video production equipment for checkout
  • Collaborate with LITS staff, campus partners, and Carleton College colleagues to create and sustain innovative technology services and resources.
  • Contribute to the vitality and inclusivity of the libraries by actively promoting LITS, engaging with the college community, and demonstrating a commitment to equity and inclusivity.

 

Who You Are:

 

Well qualified applicants will have an associates degree or bachelor’s degree (preferred) in instructional technology, audiovisual technology, filmmaking, audio production or a related field and at least two years of professional experience working in a similar role within a company, college or university.

Additionally, you have incredible organization and attention to detail. You’re knowledgeable about current teaching trends, pedagogies, and technologies in higher education. You are a skilled trainer, breaking down complex technology to facilitate learning. You enthusiastically explore new ideas and embrace new initiatives. You also demonstrate an ability and willingness to support, respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values and point of view to build a strong and inclusive community.
