Assistant Director, Career Development and Coaching, Business

About the Role: 

 

Are you a natural coach who enjoys working with undergraduate students?  Do you have experience in business, with an interest in technology or statistics/data science, and would you like to share your passion for these fields with others?  Would you enjoy helping students explore their interests and find a meaningful academic and vocational path? As the Assistant Director, you will engage and educate students through conversations about their future, and develop plans to help students explore and succeed in careers in business: specifically, first years and sophomores interested in sales and marketing, consulting, HR, finance/banking, and management, as well as students from all class years interested in business with overlapping interests in data sciences/statistics, technical areas and computer science. You will to conduct employer outreach, contribute to programming, and lead discernment and skill-building workshops that focus on preparing students for the workplace, internship and job fairs, and employer and on-campus recruiting events. What You’ll Do: 

  • Counsel first year and sophomore students interested in business careers; 
  • Collaborate with other Piper Center staff to coach and provide programming to support business students with overlapping interests in data science/statistics, technical areas and computer science
  • Help students create strong application materials, network effectively, and prepare for interviews.
  • Organize and facilitate industry specific workshops, events and programs; assist with campus recruiting events, fairs, and facilitate connections between students and key employers, alumni and parents in your industry areas
  • Capitalize on knowledge of sectors, industries, specific companies, graduate programs, and professional/personal networks.

 

Who You Are:

 

The qualified candidate will have…

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree; maintain a valid driver’s license and meet St. Olaf College driver authorization criteria with a satisfactory driving record.

 

Experience:   3+ years of experience in business/corporate environments with a background in program management, business development, training, executive coaching, recruitment, university relations, talent acquisition, or human resources; experience coaching or counselling clients or customers

 

It will be helpful if you have…

 

Education:  Master’s degree in business, higher education, counseling, or a related field

 

Experience:   Higher education experience in career development or experience coaching clients or customers; experience working with undergraduate students; experience serving diverse communities, familiarity with career development/counseling theories and methods; specialized knowledge of business/corporate field; experience in statistics/data science, computer science, or another technical area
