About the Role: 

 

At St. Olaf you’ll be working alongside a dedicated team that brings their passion and

pride to all that they do. Public Safety works in partnership with students, faculty and staff to create and maintain a safe, secure and stable environment for living, learning and working. Since our department is a 24/7/365 operation, the college community counts on Public Safety to be visible and service oriented while performing their duties and responsibilities. On a daily basis you will interact with a diverse and caring community who take pride in St. Olaf and the mission of a liberal arts institution.

 

The shift is 11:30 p.m. - 7:30 a.m., with the sequence of 7 days on, 2 days off, 8 days on and 4 days off. The 4 off days will be Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

Public Safety Officers are the first responders to incidents and accidents occurring on campus property. In this role, officers conduct investigations, write incident reports, respond to medical related emergencies, investigate intrusion and fire alarms, provide transports to the hospital for minor illnesses and injuries and work with local police, fire and emergency medical services.

 

Public Safety Officers also patrol all campus property to prevent and detect criminal or unacceptable behavior, enforce parking regulations, provide security services to the campus, respond to calls for service, provide security for special events, engage in crime prevention efforts and assist in new officer training and orientation.

 

Who You Are:

 

You’re a great fit if you have…

 

1+ year of law enforcement or security experience; a high school diploma or equivalent; a valid driver’s license with a good driving record; and you genuinely enjoy helping people.

 

A helpful background includes:

 

An Associate’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement or security; 2+ years of law enforcement or security experience on a college/university campus.
