To provide and maintain a safe, clean, living and working environment for the St. Olaf campus community.

 

We are hiring for the following shift:

Thursday through Monday, 5:30 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. (Tuesday & Wednesday off) in Buntrock Commons

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Clean floors – 30% of time 
  • Sweep/Dust mop
  • Mop/Auto scrub
  • Wax/Polish
  • Vacuum/Carpet extraction
  1. Clean bathrooms/showers – 25% of time
  • Disinfect sinks, toilets, urinals, showers
  • Sweep and mop floors
  • Restock soap, hand towels and toilet paper
  1. Clean horizontal and vertical surfaces – 15% of time
  • Clean glass, walls, woodwork, vents, light fixtures
  • Clean window sills, desk tops, classroom boards
  1. Trash and Recycle – 10% of the time
  • Collect trash/recycle material and place in designated outside containers
  • Clean all indoor trash and recycling bins
  1.  Maintenance tasks – 10% of time
  • Remove snow from building entrances, sidewalks, and steps.
  • Unplug sink and toilet drains
  • Replace light bulbs
  • Report items needing repair
  1. Other related duties – 10 % of the time
  • Assist in buildings with staff shortages
  • Complete set ups for events
  • Move furniture, supplies, and equipment as needed

  • Ability to quickly learn and develop skill sets required to perform this position
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction
  • Ability to report to work on time and consistently be adequately prepared for work every shift
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to perform consistent heavy manual labor

  • Ability to work well with a diverse community of students, educators, administrative and other support staff
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

 

Experience:  Stable work history

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:  Vocational/Technical school training

 

Experience:  Previous cleaning experience; operational experience with floor machines, hydraulic man-lift, snow blowers
